A day of welcome, inclusivity and diversity - on Wednesday 17th March, we celebrated the beauty of our differences and our togetherness as one community.
It was a day to celebrate our diverse cultural backgrounds within our community and in Australia. Students were invited to dress in cultural or traditional clothing or orange - the official colour of Harmony Week.
Our Harmony Day celebration at the Secondary campus included an acknowledgement of country led by one of our Indigenous students, followed by our national anthem and a beautifully sung rendition of 'I Am Australian'. We continued the celebration of diversity with opportunities to share our family languages, a time of prayer with special intentions spoken in different languages and a number of cultural dance numbers.
In the Primary school, a special prayer circle was had with the children also sharing their cultural languages.

โจ All Saints Day in our Open Classrooms! Today, parents were invited into our classrooms to see learning in action, join in prayer and praise, and take part in some special activities with their children. We were also delighted to welcome Fr Walter from OLA Parish, Rouse Hill, who visited our Kindergarten students to share stories about his favourite saints and what it truly means to be a saint. ๐ NSW All Schools Championships // Congratulations to Ruari, Noah, and Milla who represented Santa Sophia at Sydney Olympic Park over the school holidays! - Ruari placed 14th in the 1500m - Noah finished 8th in the 3000m and 19th in the 1500m - Milla achieved 2nd in the 800m and 3rd in the 400m This is an outstanding achievement and we are incredibly proud of all three students for their dedication, effort and sportsmanship. ๐

On Thursday 16th October, Professor Gerard O'Shea made his fourth visit to Santa Sophia this year. ๐ As an expert in Religious Education for children, he modelled lessons to teachers in Year 3 and Year 1. Students were highly engaged in all of the activities which are based in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. He also spent time with staff members to nurture their professional development and understanding.
