On Thursday 6 May, we held a special Mother's Day liturgy in honour of all the wonderful mothers in our community.
To show our appreciation for the women who have nurtured us and shaped who we are as a person, we invited all mums and grandmothers of our Primary students to a special liturgy and presentation.
As our mums and grandmothers entered the church, they received a white rose as a sign of appreciation for the gift they are to us. The liturgy included a procession of different symbols representing motherhood, a Gospel reading, prayers of the faithful, a book reading with Mrs Finucane, and a beautiful song dedication with Celine Dion's 'Because You Loved Me'.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, our Secondary Celebration needed to be cancelled. However, our Secondary students still came together to dedicate the above video message to their mums.

What an incredible day of community spirit and generosity! ππ Last week, we proudly partnered with Woolworths The Gables for a fundraising event supporting Variety Childrenβs Charity. As one community of faith, our students and staff from Curiosity, Connect and Challenge gathered for our Term 2 Whole College Mass celebrating the Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians, Patroness of Australia. Following Pentecost Sunday, Fr Carlos reflected on the Holy Spirit as both water and fire β bringing life, renewal, courage and transformation. He reminded us that the gifts we receive from God are not meant to be kept to ourselves, but shared generously with others in service and love. Fr Carlos also spoke beautifully of Mary as the Mother of the Church, whose faith and trust continue to guide us today. He commended our students for the reverence and respect they demonstrated throughout the celebration, a wonderful reflection of the spirit of Santa Sophia Catholic College. National Road Safety Week at Santa SophiaπΈ Santa Sophia acknowledged National Road Safety Week with a fun, college-wide Walk Safely to School event, focusing on the importance of pedestrian safety. It was a fantastic opportunity to promote safe habits, healthy routines, and stronger community connections among our students and families. We were also privileged to welcome officers from the NSW Police Force β Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, who visited our school to share important road safety messages, present their vehicles, and engage our students in an informative session. Year 10 at the Western Sydney Careers Expo π Yesterday, our Year 10 students attended the Western Sydney Careers Expo, exploring a wide range of future pathways including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships, and career opportunities. Students represented Santa Sophia with maturity and respect, engaging positively with exhibitors and asking thoughtful questions about their future pathways. What an incredible Year 6 Spirituality Day! π Centered around the theme of Love, our students threw themselves into a beautiful mix of faith, creativity, and high-energy fun. They beautifully balanced deep reverence during Eucharistic Adoration with meaningful small-group discussions, displayed their artistic flair by creating vibrant rose windows, and brought massive energy to a competitive Amazing Race! πββοΈπ¨π We are incredibly proud of how our Year 6 students stepped up as servant leaders, running lunchtime activities for our K-4 students.
