✨ Career insights in the School of Challenge! On Thursday 14 November, our students explored two exciting career pathways — Nurse Manager and Beauty Therapist — thanks to two generous college parents. 🩺 Ms Reid, Nurse Manager at Sydney Virtual Hospital, shared how a Bachelor of Nursing can open doors to a wide range of roles. She also explained how virtual care now supports every NSW health district, with over 200 positions in her area alone. 💄 Mrs Davidson, Director of The Hills Piercing Studio, spoke about her journey from studying a Diploma of Beauty Therapy during her HSC to finding her niche in piercing and eventually running her own studio. Her story highlighted the importance of seizing opportunities and building experience along the way. Students loved having the chance to ask personalised questions and learn directly from industry professionals. A huge thank you to Ms Reid and Mrs Davidson for giving their time and inspiring our students with their career stories. 💛 #SantaSophia #SchoolOfChallenge #CareerPathways

Student mobile phone use will be banned across 80 Western Sydney Catholic schools from the beginning of the 2026 school year. The restriction presents a positive opportunity to enhance student outcomes, both in academic excellence and wellbeing.

CAREER EXPLORATION IN ACTION // On Tuesday 4 November, around 50 of our Year 10 and 11 students took part in four hands-on, interactive workshops run by the University of Notre Dame — and they absolutely loved the practical experience! 💼 Business Students tackled real-world problems around reducing carbon emissions and integrating eco-friendly packaging and transport. In teams, they brainstormed solutions and presented their innovative ideas. 🩺 Nursing A fully practical workshop where students learned key skills: taking blood pressure, administering medication, and practising CPR on manikins. 💻 Computer Science Students explored AI through Teachable Machine — creating image models, recognising audio types, and detecting body movements. 🧠 Occupational Therapy Students gained insight into supporting individuals with different needs through creative challenges like making a sandwich with their non-dominant hand, balloon exercises, and completing cognitive tests. A massive thank you to the lecturers and staff from Notre Dame for providing such engaging and informative sessions.
