Our Year 9 and Year 10 PASS students recently took learning to new heights at Treetops Adventure! Students challenged themselves across a variety of obstacle courses and zip lines, demonstrating courage, teamwork, problem-solving and resilience throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of our Secondary Dance students, who represented Santa Sophia with confidence, commitment and artistry. Each dancer brought something unique to the stage and demonstrated the hard work and dedication that has gone into their preparation all year. A huge congratulations to our Secondary dancers on their fantastic results: 🥇 1st Place – Secondary Lyrical 🥈 2nd Place – Senior Soloist – Lucinda Our dancers also had the incredible opportunity to take part in a Hip Hop and Contemporary workshop with renowned dancer and choreographer, Neale Whittaker. Students were challenged to explore new movement qualities, musicality and performance styles while learning from an experienced industry professional. We were especially proud to hear such wonderful feedback from the competition judge, who recognised the strengths of our dancers: Lyrical: “Excellent tension and impressive musicality, with beautiful imagery. Lovely technique and maturity shown through each individual dancer” Hip Hop: “Nice details in the choreography, isolations and articulation. Great job using the whole space and keeping to the style.” Jazz: “Good levels and uniformity and a natural connection between all the dancers” Soloist: “Beautiful style and expression" These comments are a wonderful reflection of the attention to detail, musicality, technical control and performance quality our dancers have been developing throughout the year. We would like to give a special thank-you to our incredible student coaches: Lilly Harris (Year 12) for Lyrical Alyssa (Year 12) & Ella (Year 10) for Hip Hop Ella & Aria (Year 9) for Jazz Your guidance and maturity this year has been incredible to see shine through our dance troupes. To all of our Representative Secondary dancers, congratulations! You should be incredibly proud of what you achieved on stage. Thank you for your hard work, resilience and commitment to your teams. Our K–4 students had an action-packed House Olympics across Monday and Tuesday last week, with plenty of fun, teamwork and House spirit! Students took part in a range of exciting activities, including tug-of-war, hula hoops, target throws, cone relays, AFL target kicks, sprint races and colouring-in competitions — all while cheering on their House teammates and earning valuable House points. It was fantastic to see our youngest students getting active, having fun and proudly representing Alexandria, Corinth, Edessa and Nicea! 💙💛❤️💚 #HouseOlympics #Housepoints

Our Year 11 Health and Movement Science, Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR), and VET Fitness students recently participated in practical CPR and First Aid training. Students developed essential life-saving skills, including how to respond confidently and effectively in emergency situations. Year 10 Careers Development classes 1 and 2 were privileged to hear from Dr Jo this week. Dr Jo is a Future of Work Expert who shared with students what they should think about in high school and five key action points. Students were able to take time to imagine where they would like to be in 10 years’ time and consider where AI versus humans are more important for specific tasks. Thanks, Dr Jo, for taking time to support Santa Sophia students. #CareersDevelopment #AIversusHumans

Last week, Santa Sophia was very well represented at the Hills Zone Athletics Carnival with a team of 45 students competing across all events. The efforts of our students on the day were exceptional with many personal bests achieved throughout the day. Congratulations to our students for their efforts. A special well done to CJ on being named the Overall Senior Girls Age Champion. Good luck to Tahlia, Isaac, Aric, Noah, Enzo, Archie, Ella, Carter, and CJ who qualified for the Diocesan Carnival this Friday.
