Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta students have produced some impressive performances at the Catholic Schools NSW Cross Country Championships, Eastern Creek.
St Madeleine's Primary, Kenthurst student Lachlan Dorahy is the standout, winning the 10 boys MacKillop race.
Lachlan, who comfortably won the Parramatta Diocese Cross Country Championships in April, won a thrilling sprint to the line to claim top spot on the podium ahead of more than 50 competitors from Catholic schools around NSW.
Lachlan joined a number of CEDP students in qualifying for the NSWPSSA Cross Country Championships (primary) and NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships (secondary).
Emelia Muccino from St Michael's Primary Baulkham Hills came an impressive 3rd in the 11 Girls while in the secondary schools competition Kim Tran from Penola Catholic College Emu Plains was 3rd in the 12 boys.
Congratulations also to those who did well in the multi class events including Matthew Engesser from Gilroy Catholic College (1st - 14-15 Boys), Layla Sharp from Emmaus College Kemps Creek (1st - 14-15 Girls) and Charlize Tran from St John Paul II Catholic College, Schofields (1st - 15-16 Girls)

NFL Flag NSW State South Championship πππ A huge effort from our Flag Football team as they reached the State Final at their recent Gala day. This was the first time that SSCC had participated in Flag Football and their efforts on the day were exceptional placing second overall. Our PDHPE teachers at Santa Sophia Catholic College embraced a fantastic professional learning opportunity focused on developing their Field Hockey skills and game knowledge. Led by highly experienced coaches and players, the session allowed teachers to deepen their understanding of the sport and explore how to effectively teach it in their classes. Last week, 13 of our Year 10 and 11 students proudly represented Santa Sophia at the Young Healthy Minds Forum, joining around 150 students from schools across north-west Sydney. Run by Burn Bright, the day focused on youth mental health and creating positive, supportive school environments. Our students had a fantastic time and walked away with valuable strategies to support their own wellbeing and that of others. π¬β¨

Yesterday morning, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students came together in our Yarning Circle for a meaningful yarn led by Aunty Julie and Alicia from Jarara (CSPDβs Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education unit). β£ Discussions centred around the meaning of Reconciliation, the importance of totems, responding to questions or negative comments about cultural identity, and how we can educate others in a positive, respectful way. β£ We look forward to continuing these important conversations in Week 2 of Term 3. πΏβ¨
