A PROPOSED new Catholic school will open at the beginning of 2018 to meet the needs of the growing Box Hill community.
Santa Sophia Catholic College will provide an innovative approach to learning and teaching according to Executive Director of Schools Greg Whitby.
At the outset, the new learning community will be open to Year 7 and Year 8 students at a temporary site within the grounds of our Lady of the Angels Primary School in Kellyville.
Once complete, the school will serve 2000 students from preschool to Year 12 and beyond at 40-46 Terry Road, Box Hill.

Our Year 10 Accelerated Science and Year 11 Investigating Science students recently showcased their physical models, each designed to represent and communicate a scientific concept. The exhibition gave students the opportunity to explain their models, explore their peersโ ideas and receive valuable feedback from staff and fellow students. They also provided constructive feedback to others, helping refine their models and scientific explanations ahead of their final submissions. Last Friday, the School of Curiosity gathered in faith to honour St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australiaโs first saint. Mary was a shining example of compassion, courage, and service. Through prayer led by Father Carlos, and song beautifully shared by Year 2 and the choir under the direction of Mrs Makdessi and Mr Rooke, we reflected on and celebrated her life. Each year, Year 6 students from across the Parramatta Diocese take part in the Public Speaking Competition, challenging students to write and present a speech on an engaging topic with a strong message. Itโs a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, think critically and develop strong communication skills โ and our Year 6 students have certainly risen to the challenge! Last week, eight talented students from across our Year 6 classes competed in the Grade Final. A huge congratulations to Justin and Scarlett, who have progressed to the next stage! ๐ Theyโll represent Santa Sophia at the Youth Cluster Finals on Monday, presenting alongside eight students from four local schools. Year 7 Camp | Day 1 ๐๏ธ Our Year 7 students had an incredible first day of camp adventure! They embraced a range of new activities, from BMX biking and kayaking to indoor archery, games, and plenty of marshmallow toasting around the campfire ๐ฅ. Thereโs been plenty of laughter, teamwork and engagement throughout the day, topped off with some delicious camp food! Our Santa Sophia boys left everything on the field in last week's NSWCCC Knockout Quarter Final against Edmund Rice Wollongong. Showing incredible resilience, skill and true Santa Sophia fighting spirit, the team pushed the match into extra time despite playing more than three quarters of the game with just 10 players. While the result didn't fall our way, the determination, courage and teamwork displayed by our boys was nothing short of outstanding.
