Stage 5 students were looking at the topic 'Human Experiences of War' to understand different scenarios of what World War 1 was like, such as what the food would taste like.
This was an entry event to a project called “Human experiences of war”. Students were being exposed to 3 different experiences in WW1. They were to
- view a video,
- read a diary entry written by a soldier
- look at the trenches and know their conditions.

The School of Curiosity launched their 2026 peer-support program this week by celebrating Cuddle Buddy Day! π§Έπ The children engaged in Literacy and Numeracy tasks that had a cuddle toy theme. They then met their Buddies from a different grade and participated in a variety of fun activities to get to know one another. Lastly, K-4 opened their doors and welcomed parents into their classrooms. The children were so excited to share their learning with their parents. π #Cuddlebuddy #SchoolofCuriosity

Year 8 Incursion: Japanese Undokai π―π΅ Last Thursday and Friday, our Year 8 students threw themselves into the energy and excitement of a traditional Japanese Undokai (sports festival)! From TugβoβWar and Eye of the Storm to Birdβs Nest and a thrilling Obstacle Course, every activity was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork and house spirit. We were delighted to welcome our special guests from AYJC β Honda Sensei, Tomo-san and Aki-san β who led the sessions in both English and Japanese. It was wonderful to hear students greeting one another in Japanese and embracing the cultural experience. The incursion encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, try something new and support one another along the way. We are so proud of the positive attitudes, strong participation and teamwork shown by our entire Year 8 cohort! #japaneseincursion

Huge congratulations to Manvitha C (Year 6)! Manvitha represented the Mackillop Girls Cricket Team at the NSW PSSA Cricket Competition in Armidale, where the team went undefeated and were crowned champions! π Her outstanding performance has earned her selection in the NSW State Team, and she will now compete at the School Sport Australia Tournament in October! High Achievers Assembly π We were proud to welcome back the Class of 2025 to Santa Sophia for our High Achievers Assembly, celebrating their outstanding HSC results. 5 students achieved ATARs above 90 β an incredible accomplishment! Today our whole college community came together to mark Ash Wednesday. Our School of Curiosity, led beautifully by Year 3, opened the day in prayer and song, followed by gatherings with the School of Connect and School of Challenge. It was a reverent and reflective occasion, inviting us to turn inward and consider how we can return to God through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving during this Lenten season. Today we celebrated Shrove Tuesday as a Santa Sophia community π₯β¨ Shrove Tuesday is a special day in the Liturgical calendar, marking the day before Lent begins β a time of reflection, prayer and preparation for Easter. Last Wednesday we held our Secondary Swimming Carnival πββοΈβοΈ What a fun (and very hot!) fantastic day! From competitive races to Lizard Lane, volleyball and slides in the indoor pool β there was something for everyone.
