A day of welcome, inclusivity and diversity - on Wednesday 17th March, we celebrated the beauty of our differences and our togetherness as one community.
It was a day to celebrate our diverse cultural backgrounds within our community and in Australia. Students were invited to dress in cultural or traditional clothing or orange - the official colour of Harmony Week.
Our Harmony Day celebration at the Secondary campus included an acknowledgement of country led by one of our Indigenous students, followed by our national anthem and a beautifully sung rendition of 'I Am Australian'. We continued the celebration of diversity with opportunities to share our family languages, a time of prayer with special intentions spoken in different languages and a number of cultural dance numbers.
In the Primary school, a special prayer circle was had with the children also sharing their cultural languages.

Our PDHPE teachers at Santa Sophia Catholic College embraced a fantastic professional learning opportunity focused on developing their Field Hockey skills and game knowledge. Led by highly experienced coaches and players, the session allowed teachers to deepen their understanding of the sport and explore how to effectively teach it in their classes. Itβs an exciting step forward in growing our staffβs confidence and expertise β all part of a broader plan to make the most of our outstanding hockey facilities and build meaningful partnerships with Hockey NSW and local clubs. π This marks the beginning of a new chapter at Santa Sophia. Last week, 13 of our Year 10 and 11 students proudly represented Santa Sophia at the Young Healthy Minds Forum, joining around 150 students from schools across north-west Sydney. Run by Burn Bright, the day focused on youth mental health and creating positive, supportive school environments. Our students had a fantastic time and walked away with valuable strategies to support their own wellbeing and that of others. π¬β¨

Yesterday morning, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students came together in our Yarning Circle for a meaningful yarn led by Aunty Julie and Alicia from Jarara (CSPDβs Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education unit). β£ Discussions centred around the meaning of Reconciliation, the importance of totems, responding to questions or negative comments about cultural identity, and how we can educate others in a positive, respectful way. β£ We look forward to continuing these important conversations in Week 2 of Term 3. πΏβ¨

Last Friday, Our Lady of the Angels, Rouse Hill, celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Consecration and Dedication of their Church. Our Principal, Mr Mark DeVries, was honoured to attend the special Mass and join in commemorating this significant milestone.
