Year 8 students in HSIE/Geography were challenged to choose a place within Australia to relocate a refugee family, and research the factors that made this place suitable to live, as well as form strategies that could improve the liveability of the location.
They had to present their findings in the form of a digital pamphlet and a panel discussion with teachers.
Students had to respond to the following three questions based upon their project:
- Why is your location the most suitable for relocation?
- What are some factors that make this place suitable?
- Can you provide some strategies or organisations that you will implement to enhance the liveability?
Their teachers were 'absolutely blown away' by their knowledge and understanding of factors that influence a place's liveability for individuals, as well as their ability to articulate and present their findings.
