In Exercise and Sports Science, our teachers organised an opportunity students to discover that they it is possible to work in professional sports without being a professional athlete.
Meeting via Zoom, the class met and heard from Bernadette Chehine, General Manager of People & Performance at Cricket NSW who opened them up to the world of possibilities of a career in professional sport, from Human Resources to Accounting to Physiotherapy to Marketing.
This is just one example of how our College is providing students with a variety of flexible and personalised pathways into a potential career.

Congratulations to our Year 5 student, Mollie S.! 🌟 We are incredibly proud to celebrate Mollie’s amazing achievement at the NSW State Championships, held on Sunday 17 May, where she placed 3rd in NSW for Tumbling! 🤸♀️🏅 Mollie is also a proud member of the National Squad, and at her previous competition, she qualified to represent NSW Team. Day 1 of Year 6 Camp – Canberra! 🇦🇺 Our Year 6 students have officially arrived in Canberra and are already having an incredible time! 🙌 Today, students stepped back into Australia’s political history with a visit to Old Parliament House, where they explored the importance of voting and the role democracy plays in shaping our nation. 🗳️ They also visited the Royal Australian Mint, discovering the fascinating process of how Australian coins are designed and made. 🪙 A fantastic first day full of learning, exploration and fun — and we can already tell they’re having the best time! 💙

Our Year 10 Spirituality Day was an incredibly engaging, reflective and faith-filled experience for all involved. 🙏✨ We were privileged to welcome Samuel Clear as our guest presenter, whose authenticity, humour and powerful storytelling captivated our students throughout the day. Through meaningful conversations and personal reflection, students were encouraged to think deeply about relationships, purpose, faith, compassion and the impact they can have on the world around them. Samuel inspired our Year 10 cohort to step outside of themselves, embrace connection and consider how they can be a source of hope and positivity for others. It was wonderful to witness the enthusiasm, openness and maturity shown by our students as they embraced the experience so wholeheartedly. As one community of faith, our students and staff from Curiosity, Connect and Challenge gathered for our Term 2 Whole College Mass celebrating the Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians, Patroness of Australia. Following Pentecost Sunday, Fr Carlos reflected on the Holy Spirit as both water and fire — bringing life, renewal, courage and transformation. He reminded us that the gifts we receive from God are not meant to be kept to ourselves, but shared generously with others in service and love. Fr Carlos also spoke beautifully of Mary as the Mother of the Church, whose faith and trust continue to guide us today. He commended our students for the reverence and respect they demonstrated throughout the celebration, a wonderful reflection of the spirit of Santa Sophia Catholic College.
