Some of our students along with new teacher, Ms Mardini, participated in the virtual launch of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference Social Justice Statement 2020-21, unpacking the theme for this year 'To Live Life to the Full: Mental health in Australia today'.
In the statement, the Bishops invite us to reject stigmatisation of mental health, and to call for policies and service provision that meets the needs of the poorest and most marginalised members of our community. We recognise the importance of this message, particularly during this time where the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the mental health of many members of our parishes, schools and communities.
Our community of Santa Sophia is committed to ensuring we are a place of acceptance, care and healing, and not a place of rejection, judgment or stigma when it comes to mental health!
