Being a new school, our students are a significant part of our foundation, and we are so excited that our Year 9 Music Class will be taking part in the special task of writing our school song.
To begin the process, Year 9 Music sat in a video conference this morning with renowned Australian composer, Ann Carr-Boyd. They workshopped "What makes a good song?" and specifically "what makes a good school song?"
Ann Carr-Boyd is a prominent composer, best known for a short piece for mandolin ensemble titled Fandango, frequently heard on radio, inflight entertainment, in concert performances and in arrangements for other instruments.

Our Year 10 History students recently visited the Sydney Jewish Museum as part of their study on The Holocaust. 🕊️ This powerful excursion gave students the opportunity to deepen their understanding through expert talks, guided tours, and viewing historical artefacts. Most profoundly, they heard a first-hand account from a Holocaust survivor, making the experience both meaningful and deeply moving. Congratulations to our Year 9 and 10 students who earned their White Card, Statement of Attainment and SafeWork NSW Statement of Training! 🎉 This qualification is essential for entering construction sites and shows that our students understand key health and safety practices—opening up exciting opportunities for work experience and future careers in construction and engineering. 🏗️⚙️ Throughout the training, students explored real-world scenarios and learnt how unsafe practices can impact not only individuals but entire communities. Celebrating Musical Excellence! 🎶 Congratulations to Beau Krebs, who recently received a 1st Prize in the International Youth Music Competition (IYMC) for his outstanding performance of Arabian Nights from the musical Aladdin. His award was part of the April Broadway & Musical Theatre section, which saw over 120 global entries! Earlier this year, our Santa Sophia Orchestra also achieved 1st Prize in the February Ensembles & Choirs section, showcasing the incredible depth of talent in our school community. We are so proud of Beau and the Orchestra for their remarkable accomplishments on the international stage! 🌟

Our Year 10 students embraced a special opportunity to connect with our Kindergarten cohort through a meaningful session of spiritual growth and storytelling. They thoughtfully created and shared storybooks, using scripture to inspire and engage our youngest learners in a beautiful moment of learning, reflection, and connection. It was a heartwarming experience that fostered both faith and friendship across year levels. 📚✨

Big congratulations to the Stage 2 soccer teams who represented Santa Sophia on Tuesday. We had a very successful day and were extremely proud of the way everyone conducted themselves. Shout out to both boys teams who placed 2nd overall in their pools! Amazing efforts from everyone and thank you to all the parents who came to watch and support the students.
