Year 1 Travel Back to the Past

In Investigations, Year 1 students are beginning the unit "Back to the Past" and are exploring the driving question 'To what extent has our family history changed from the past to present?'

The lesson began by reading a book titled 'Now and Then' which compared the lives of two boys, one from 2019 and the other from 1940. Coming back into the classroom, they discovered two elderly ladies who emerged from a TIME MACHINE!

Time travellers from the past, Teresa and Silvia brought so much joy and fun to the classroom, while they shared about the items they brought with them.

Teresa and Silvia were shocked to learn how different the items we use today are and were in awe of the 'new technologies' that the children showed them, like the coloured TV and the iPad.

In the coming weeks, Year 1 students will delve deeper into their 'Need to Know' questions, learning about how families lived in the past including their own families through the generations.
